Our goal is for our wines to be a unique expression of our terroir. We practice minimal intervention in the winery.
2022 Cabernet Franc
(Wine Club Only)
82% Cabernet Franc | 18% Merlot
Harvested 10/24/22 (Brix – 26.0 Brix, pH – 3.73). 14.9% Alcohol
Fermented in open fermenters. Aged for 21+ months in 100% new French Oak.
Aromatics: Crushed fruit medley of cherries, raspberries, and blueberries with spice notes of clove and cinnamon
Palate: Bright blueberry and cherry compote flavors upfront, followed by spice notes of cloves and nutmeg. Finishes with firm, but fine-grained tannins and nice balancing acidity
Color: Dark garnet with violet hues on the rim
Food Pairings: Braised duck, beef stroganoff, and dark chocolate candy or ice cream
When to drink: Drinking beautiful now and should age nicely for 5 to 8 years
2022 Reserve Estate Merlot
(Wine Club Only)
100% Merlot
Harvested 10/20/22 (Brix – 27.8, pH – 3.47). 14.7% Alcohol
Fermented in open fermenters and aged in 100% new French Oak for 22 months.
Aromatics: Dark berry fruit and cherry with backing spices and cloves
Palate: Upfront are flavors of bright Bing cherries and brambleberry followed by backing spices and cloves on the mid-palate. Finishes with bright acidity and brown sugar
Color: Dark garnet
Food Pairings: Filet mignon with blue cheese, beef stew, and/or beef Bolognese
When to drink: Ready now, but this wine will improve over the next 2 to 3 years. Should age well for 5 to 8 years
2022 La Hermosa
Right-bank-style Bordeaux Blend
63% Cabernet Franc | 21% Cabernet Sauvignon | 16% Petit Verdot
Harvested varying dates in October 2022. 14.8% Alcohol
Fermented in open fermenters. Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot varietals were aged for 21 months in 100% new French Oak. The Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 21 months in 100% new American Oak.
Aromatics: Earth, toasted oak, beef, and fresh roasted coffee
Palate: Begins with dark fruit, then cardamon spice on the mid-palate, and finishes with a beautiful, long, lingering finish. This is a big, bold, beautiful wine that’s held nicely together with bright acid
Color: Medium garnet
Food Pairings: Prime Rib, Dyno Bone Ribs, Rib Eye Steak, Beef sliders
When to drink: This wine is beautiful now, but should continue to improve over the next 2 to 3 years and should age well for another 5 to 8 years
2022 La Espuella
Right-bank-style Bordeaux Blend
65% Merlot | 21% Malbec | 10% Cabernet Sauvignon | 4% Petit Verdot
Harvested: El Mochuelo Estate Merlot – 10/20/22 (Brix – 27.8, pH - 3.47). Tapteil Vineyard Malbec – 10/15/22 (Brix – 26.2; pH – 3.61). Tapteil Cabernet Sauvignon – 10/22/22 (Brix – 26.9, pH – 3.53), Weinbau Petit Verdot – 10/12/21 (Brix – 26.5, pH – 3.58). 14.7% alcohol, pH – 3.84
Fermented in open topped fermenters. All wines were aged for 21 months. The El Mochuelo Estate Merlot was aged in a once-used French oak puncheon and a once-used French oak barrel. The Malbec was aged in a neutral French oak barrel. Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in 100% new American oak. The Petit Verdot was aged in 100% new French Oak.
Aromatics: Smells of pretty blueberry and baking spices
Palate: Begins with dark mixed berry and blueberry upfront. The mid to back-palate imparts spices of nutmeg, cloves, and black tea. The wine finishes impressively with bright acid, brown sugar, and fine-grained tannins
Color: Opaque purple with violet hues on the rim
Food Pairings: Brisket, Pork Shoulder Roast or Pork Loin
When to drink: It’s ready to drink now, but it should improve with a few years of aging. This wine should be beautiful for at least 10 years
2022 El Rodeo Cabernet Sauvignon
80% Cabernet Sauvignon | 10% Merlot | 10% Petit Verdot
Harvested on various dates on mid/late October 2022. 14.9% alcohol
Fermented in open fermenters. All varietals aged for 22 months 100% new French Oak
Aromatics: Earth, dark fruit, and lightly toasted oak
Palate: Begins with dark plum and huckleberry notes, followed by baking spices on the mid-palate. Finishes with soft, well integrated tannins. A pretty, complicated, and interesting wine
Color: Medium Garnet with violet hues on the rim
Food Pairings: Elk tenderloin, filet mignon, and/or chocolate ice cream
When to drink: Ready now, but will continue to improve over the next year or two in bottle. Should age well for another 5+ years
2022 Estate Syrah
100% Syrah
Harvested 10/20/22 (Brix – 24.3, pH - 3.46). 14.5% alcohol, pH – 3.67
Fermented in open topped fermenters. Aged for 21 months in a 100% new American Oak
Aromatics: Dark black fruits/blackberry
Palate: Beautiful blackberry, currant, and sandalwood upfront followed by smoked, brown sugar or molasses on the mid-palate. Super long finish with a tickle of smoke, tobacco, and fine=grained wood tannins
Color: Beautiful dark purple with violet hues on the rim
Food Pairings: Fatty Ribeye steak, Filet Mignon with crumbled blue cheese, and/or dark chocolate
When to drink: Wonderful now and should age beautifully for 5 to 7 years
2022 El Lasso Malbec
75% Malbec | 10% Cabernet Sauvignon | 10% Petit Verdot | 5% Merlot
Harvested on various dates in October 2022. 14.5% alcohol, pH – 3.85
Fermented in open topped fermenters. Aged for 21 months in a 100% new American Oak
Aromatics: Dark raspberry, sandalwood, and a hint of cloves
Palate: Begins with dark fruit flavors and a hint of smoke. The mid-palate has fine, grippy tannins, followed by a super long finish of bright acid, candied dark fruits, and tongue-coating tannins
Color: Dark garnet
Food Pairings: Pork tenderloin, beef stew, stroganoff, and/or chocolate ice cream
When to drink: Ready now, but we think will improve with a year or two in bottle. Should drink beautifully for another 5 to 7 years
2022 Vino Tinto
76% Merlot | 20% Cabernet Sauvignon | 2% Cabernet Franc | 2% Malbec
Harvested on various dates in October 2022. 14.9% alcohol, pH – 3.8
Fermented in open topped fermenters. Aged for 21 months in a 100% new American Oak
Aromatics: Bright cherry and mixed berries, chocolate, and notes of sandalwood
Palate: Begins with chocolate covered cherries, followed by cardamom and mid-eastern spices and soft-plush tannins. The bright acidity holds everything together for a long, lovely finish. Super easy drinking everyday wine
Color: Dark crimson, almost opaque
Food Pairings: Braised duck, pork tenderloin, cassoulet, and/or Basque cheesecake with raspberry compote
When to drink: Ready now and should drink beautifully for 5+ years
2022 Estate Merlot
100% Merlot
Harvested 10/20/22 (Brix – 27.8, pH – 3.47). 14.7% alcohol
Fermented in open fermenters and aged in 50% new French Oak for 21 months
Aromatics: Toasted oak, damson plum, and dark cherry
Palate: Dark cherry and bright acid upfront, followed by tannin, toasted oak, and tobacco
Color: Dark crimson with violet hues on the edge
Food Pairings: New York Steaks, Beef Stew, Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Pesto Pizza or Pasta
When to drink: Recommend decanting for an hour or laying down until 2026. This wine will improve over the next 2 to 3 years. Should age well for 7 to 10 years.
2019 Estate Merlot
Harvested 10/11/19 (24 Brix, 3.42 pH), 10/17/19 (24.5 Brix 3.51 pH) and fermented in French oak for 19 months, 55% on new oak barrels and puncheons. Bottled 6/03/21. 14.1% Alcohol.
Aromatics: beautiful fruit, blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, brown sugar, and carmel
Palate: bright berry fruit, crisp with nice acid, fine tannins with light grip. Long linger on the finish.
Color: clear, medium garnet. Violet blue hues on the rim.
Food Pairings: pork roast or tenderloin, short ribs, French onion soup (or all by itself)
Aging: beautiful now with light grip. Should age for 10+ years.
2020 Estate Merlot
Harvested – 10/20/2020. Bottled 08/10/22. Brix – 27.0, pH – 3.72. Alcohol – 14.6%.
Aged - 22 months in 52% new French Oak barrels and puncheons, 18% once-used Hungarian Oak, and 30% neutral French Oak.
Aromatics: beautiful black fruit (blackberry and blueberry), brown sugar, and caramel
Palate: bright berry fruit, crisp with nice acid, fine tannins with light grip. Long linger on the finish.
Color: clear, medium garnet. Violet blue hues on the rim.
Food Pairings: pork roast or tenderloin, short ribs, French onion soup (or all by itself)
Aging: beautiful now with light grip. Should age for 8 to 10 years.
2021 Estate Merlot
Harvested – 10/5/2021. Bottled 08/28/23. Brix – 27.5, pH – 3.76. Alcohol – 14.5%.
Fermented in open fermenters and aged in 100% new French Oak for 21 months.
Aromatics: Sandalwood, leather, cloves, and spice
Palate: Upfront are flavors of beautiful dark fruit and cloves. The wine finishes with fine, drying tannins on a super long finish
Color: Dark crimson with pretty violet hues on the edges
Food Pairings: Filet mignon with blue cheese, beef stew, and/or beef Bolognese
When to drink: Ready now, but this wine will improve over the next 2 to 3 years. Should age well for 5 to 8 years.
