2021 La Hermosa

$50.00
  • Blend: Right-bank-style Bordeaux Blend:  75% Cabernet Franc, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon

  • Vineyards: The Cabernet Franc is from the Gamache Vineyard in the White Bluffs AVA.  The Cabernet Sauvignon is from Tapteil Vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA.

  • Harvested: Cabernet Franc – 10/1/21 (Brix – 25.2, pH – 3.87); Cabernet Sauvignon – 10/07/21 (Brix – 27.1, pH – 3.79)

  • Bottled : 08/28/23

  • Alcohol: 14.5%

Fermented in open fermenters.  The Cabernet Franc was aged for 21 months in 100% new French Oak.  The Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 21 months in 100% new American Oak.

Aromatics: Pretty spice, primarily cloves, and lightly toasted oak.

Palate: Begins with pretty strawberry followed by spice accents (cloves).  The mid-palate is drying with integrated, wood tannins followed by beautiful berry compote flavors, and ends with a long drying finish.  As the name suggests - a very pretty or lovely Cabernet Franc-dominant blend.

Color: Medium garnet or crimson

Food Pairings: Pork loin roast, pot roast, and/or prime rib.

When to drink: This wine is beautiful and ready to drink now.  It should continue to improve over the next 2 to 3 years and should age well for another 5 to 10 years.

ABOUT US

We are firm believers that you cannot make great wine without great grapes. We work very hard to grow great grapes, handpicking our grapes each season. Each season brings new challenges, but when we harvest the beautiful fruit we’ve worked so hard for, it’s incredibly rewarding. We practice sustainable farming and are in our vineyard every day. We make sure each vine gets the optimal amounts of water, nutrients, and sun. We want to do as little wine making intervention as possible.
